Croutons can easily be made rather than bought... I always make them for my Caesar Salad, but it's always great to make a huge batch and keep em kicking around.

Ingredients

2 Tablespoon unsalted butter, melted
1/3 Cup extra-virgin olive oil
1 loaf bread... any kind, I tend to use baguette. cut into 1 inch cubes
1 Teaspoon salt
1/2 Teaspoon fresh-ground pepper
1/2 Teaspoon cayenne pepper

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 450
  2. Combine the butter and olive oil in a big bowl, toss in your bread till coated.
  3. Sprinkle salt and pepper and cayenne, and then spread in a single layer on a baking sheet.
  4. Bake till golden, about 10 minutes.
