Ingredients

1 1/2 tsp. sesame oil
1 tsp. minced ginger
1/2 tsp. minced garlic
1/2 cup chicken stock
1 tbsp. soy sauce
1 tbsp. brown sugar
tabasco sauce
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. pepper
1 1/2 tsp. lemon or lime juice
2 tbsp. vegetable oil
6 oz. boneless, skinless chicken breast cut into small strips
1/2 cup sliced mushrooms
1/2 cup red or green pepper
1/4 cup toasted slivered almonds
Cooked brown rice or noodles

Directions

  1. Heat the sesame oil in a small saucepan.
  2. Add the ginger and garlic. Stir fry for 30 seconds over medium heat.
  3. Add the chicken stock, soy sauce, brown sugar, tabasco, salt, pepper and lemon or lime juice.
  4. Bring to a boil with constant stirring.
  5. Simmer for 1 minute.
  6. Remove the heat and set aside. The sauce can be made in larger quantities and stored in the refrigerator.
  7. In a frying pan, cook the chicken strips. You can also cook the chicken in the oven.
  8. Prepare the rice.
  9. Cook the mushrooms in a small frying pan.
  10. When the chicken has finished cooking, add it to the sauce.
  11. Place the chicken over a flat layer of rice.
  12. Add the mushrooms, pepper, and almonds over the chicken.

Notes

The amount of tabasco sauce used depends on how spicy you like your food. You can substitute the chicken with beef.
